SANDSPIT ACCOMMODATIONS

All Ocean Sound kayak tours start and finish in K’il Kun (Sandspit), B.C., the location of the main airport on Haida Gwaii. We strongly suggest that all guests stay in Sandspit the night before your tour.

For those guests who wish to stay on Graham Island the night prior, you will be required to take the 7:30 a.m. ferry from Skidegate Landing to Alliford Bay at your expense, which will allow you to meet up with our transport provider.

Accommodation is limited in K’il Kun (Sandspit), which is a small town with a population of around 250. Therefore, we strongly suggest that guests book their accommodations as soon as possible after confirming your booking with OSK.

Starting in 2023, OSK guests will have access to a unique experience: The Gould’s Beach House,

This beach house is ideal for both groups and individual bookings.

My friends, Doug and Scotty, the latter who will be your host, were born and raised in K’il Kun (Sandspit), have opened up their beach house to like-minded travellers.  I have known the Gould family for nearly 30 years, and they have always been gracious enough to welcome me into their homes. Doug, who founded Moresby Explorers, a well-known zodiac tour company that still operates in Gwaii Haanas, was my first employer when I arrived in Sandpit.

Transfers to/ from the airport can be arranged by Scotty, along with an assortment of bikes, paddle Boards, kayaks, outdoor items, and a commercially insured car to do your local run around, for his guests to use while staying at the beach house.

A commercial van ( 6 passengers, and can be set up as a camper) can be rented on a daily basis when leaving town.

The Beach House can also be viewed through Scotty’s webpage  Go Ex.

Additionally, Scotty’s son Gregory created a collage of adventures, including exploring his backyard!

Another long-time peep Brenna, dating back to my Moresby Explorer days, manages Hekate’s Retreat in Sandspit, which offers a variety of options for individuals and groups.
